Our skilled workforce has extensive experience of working on nuclear sites and within radiological environments. Our workforce undergoes mandatory New Starter training and an on-going training programme. The Company benefits from in-house trainers and training/classroom facilities.
Plant Removal
BD Nuclear operatives have many years of experience in the removal of plant items. The works are mainly undertaken in radiologically controlled areas and require a hands on approach due to the constraints encountered.
Decontamination
BD Nuclear operatives have experience in many decontamination techniques ranging from heavy abrasive machinery to manual swabbing and monitoring of surfaces. Our staff work hand in hand with Health Physics when undertaking decontamination works and have a good understanding of the requirements.
Pressurised Suit Work
BD Nuclear on occasion needs to utilise pressurised suits in the operations we undertake. This has been a requirement for work we have undertaken at Dounreay and Winfrith. Our operatives are also all face fit tested for wearing respirators when working in C3 Conditions.
Core Sampling / Analysis
Core drilling is a basic task for our staff and we are often asked to utilise this skill to undertake sampling for our clients. We can offer the full sample and analysis service having close links to local accredited laboratories.
Lift Operations
BD Nuclear staff often work in and around facilities where heavy lifting operations are undertaken and this has enabled a good understanding of these activities to be gained. A number of our staff are CPCS Trained to undertake crane driving, slinging and signalling operations.
Waste Processing
Waste processing is an integral part of the every task we undertake and our operatives have a good understanding of the processing requirements. BD Nuclear is able to offer Waste Officers and regularly undertakes waste packaging operations during our work.
