Project Overview
The work required was undertaken during a bi annual outage at the Valero Penbroke refinery.
To enable the replacement of a large section of ducting an existing duct needed to be separated at two locations to allow its removal. The work was carried out at a significant height from a scaffold platform.
Due to the need to undertake a cold cut the use of diamond wire was determined. This was the first time such a technique had been used on the site and it attracted a high level of interest.
The task was completed without issue and within the timeframe required. This was important as the outage programme was dependant on the work being completed. The client was delighted with the work undertaken and further opportunities have developed for BD Nuclear from this work.
